FAQ
Q: What is a top opening box ?
A: A top opening box has a lift up lid at the top of the box with
a letter opening underneath for the mail to go in: ie. the postman lifts
up the top flap and puts the mail into the slot; They all have lockable
front doors c/w 2 keys;
Q:What is the advantage of a top opening box?
A: Generally you can get items of mail which can't be bent ie, an A4 package
which has a cardboard insert to avoid it bending; The reason for this
is that the mail goes straight into the box without needing to be bent
, as is sometimes the case with a front opening box;
Q: The Picardie and Bretagne post boxes have an opening on the back of
the box also , what is the purpose of this?
A: The Picardie and Bretagne differ from the other boxes in that they
can also be placed behind a letter plate/ flap, ie behind a gate so the
mail drops into the box from one side and is retrievable from the other;
So in other words these boxes have two uses, either as on the wall boxes
or for front delviery/ front retrieval;
Q: But if the Picardie and Bretagne have a slot at the back and I place
it on a wall won't the water get in ?
A: Not if you place it agains a flat wall or similar surface, if the wall
is uneven then it is best to put a line of silcone sealant around the
outer edges of the box and the wall;
